Lazy Exercises To Lose Weight

You may remember I shared my #MummyMakeover with you all in 2015 and I'll be honest when I'm good, I do really well. In fact this year I lost 21 lb with Slimming World . Sadly 2 weeks in Cyprus in October, not getting back on track and a fantastic diet break for Christmas mean that I've gained back some (well 11) of those and so I start this year only 10 lb lighter than last.

Here is the truth, I eat lots of chocolate when I'm not being 'good' and we love a takeaway. none of these things are going to move the pounds, what I'd like is someone to wave a magic wand and make me a size 12 again. Maybe if I could get fit just thinking about exercise?

I had a conversation with a personal trainer recently who has been showing me some work outs (you can watch them on you tube) and I asked if we could work together, I wanted to make video clips of easy (I mean lazy) exercises you could do while you were getting on with other things, like squats while you clean your teeth, a plank in the Corrie break, you get my drift. Shirley nodded and agreed sure we can do that. Then she started my plan and said here's the thing mate, doing two minutes of squats while you brush you teeth won't be that effective so we are gonna try this.... and then she almost killed me! But it was over in about 15 minutes and while my legs were wobbly and my head was a red as a beet, I felt better, Hell I felt good, more motivated for work and keener to do the housework, But I will be honest with you, I'm lazy! I can think of a million reasons not to exercise yet I know I will always feel better afterwards.

That's why Shirley is right, and also the best trainer I could ask for. There is no such thing as Easy or Lazy exercises, but there are quick routines that can make a difference and you can do them with your kids in tow, as you will see in our first (badly shot, awful to watch) video. You can do them while dinner is cooking or while you have a spare 20 minutes!

Shirley owns Trimmed Toned and Toddlers, a local class where parents and carers can take their little people for a play while Shirley hosts the exercise class, she also offers 1-2-1 training which has been awesome for me, but the great thing is she is a mum to 3 she has been where I am, feeling unfit and wanting to make a change but fighting an inner battle with the voices who offer those million excuses. So I'm putting my faith in her, I shall follow her instructions and have faith, because I'll be honest, she looks ace!

So we are going to show you me (eek) doing short sharp exercises timed so that you can follow along, I'll be honest now, the early videos are a bit rubbish but you can hear the timings and you can follow the exercises, heck you can even make yourself feel better that you cant possibly be as bad as me at them!

Here goes ....

We will be making more videos and I will post footage of Shirley showing and explaining the exercises as well  so stay tuned to my YouTube channel for all the new workouts

So my goal for this year is a steady 2lb a week loss, I will post lots of recipes and will keep you all updated, I'd love to hear if you tried the exercises, what you thought of them.

#Mummymakeover Week 6 Weigh In

Oh my giddy aunt!

I had a feeling I had lost well this week because due to a nasty bout of tonsillitis I've been living on frozen berries and yoghurt, vegetable soup and soft veg! All free and most Speed foods!

But you could have knocked me over with a feather at this weeks Slimming World Class when I saw that I had lost 5.5lb this week!

Typically this was the first week I've not stayed to class (because of the whole Monkeyfeet team being struck with lurgy) so I said I would collect my STONE AWARD next week! Yes that's right I've lost a nice neat stone in 6 weeks and yes there was actually a happy dance when I leapt off the scales!

I also got the fab news via our lovely class facebook page that I was SLIMMER OF THE WEEK! Eeh I'm sorry for all the capitals but I'm so excited I could scream.

So I'm heading into week 7 with some nerves that returning to normal eating after a week of only soft food may have a negative effect but I'm trying to squash those thoughts and concentrate on my Speed food and staying focused.

See you next week

#Mummymakeover Weekly Weigh in - Week 4

Last week I was full of joy with my Slimming World Journey and I've had a fab food week since then. So I fully expected to be performing another (really bad) happy dance this week. Only I'd be doing it whilst holding aloft a shiny certificate and badge declaring I'd lost half a stone! So I positively skipped into class today .....

There you have it a right miserable week and it honestly took everything I had to not walk straight out the door of my class! I think looking at this video I actually look quite cheerful (that'll be my public face!) but I will be honest there have been tears today and it's really brought my day down, which is silly given that the world is full of real problems and not losing a silly half a pound is nothing in comparison but I'm bad tempered and frustrated!

#Mummymakeover Weekly Weigh In - Week 3

You may have seen my post yesterday, apologising in advance to my lovely consultant, basically after what I thought was a terrible week I assumed I would be disappointed on the scales this weigh in. But I'm delighted to say I lost ....

Which made me re think the big fat grump I had yesterday and look at the food diary I (half) filled in this week. Turns out I'm now eating speed food without even thinking about it and the choices I've made HAVE made a difference. You know what else makes a difference? Staying to class listening to the other members talking about their food and how they overcome struggles. I will admit 'sprout soup' is a recipe I've decided to ignore BLEURGH! but I pick up lots of ideas for new dishes and this week even shared my newly discovered recipe for
'Fakeaway' chilli sauce, I swear it's just like the kebab shop!

So I've come out of today's Slimming World meeting spurred on to try even harder and eat even more free food and LESS chocolate!

See you all next week, there may be a celebratory 'award dance'!!

See you guys next week

#Mummymakeover Mid Week Wobble 'what's the point?'

I want chocolate, and pizza and chips and crisps (actually I don't miss crisps at all) well I don't really want to eat all that but my inner brat does!
I'm being petulant and grumpy, I've had so many lovely positive comments and messages about my first weeks weigh in at Slimming World but I'm still in a right huff!

My lovely consultant text to cheer me on and say having looked at my food diary she's noticed I've had a couple of days going over 15 Syn's and I need to eat more speed foods. First off I have to say it's lovely having someone to be your personal advisor and I KNOW to just listen and follow her directions and I will succeed but I've found myself feeling grumpy about it all.

  • First I totally thought (because this is how I used to do it) that if I had a 'good' (please note I mean bad) weekend of syn's I could just make up for it by having less syn's through the week.
  • Second I've had speed foods in, on and with every single meal so I turned into a 6 yr old with a 'pfft whateva' attitude for a bit about not eating enough. I mean I honestly couldn't consume any more fruit or veg.

So I'm feeling all very 'what's the point' but I'm giving myself a shake. I'm enjoying good food with loads of fruit and veg and it's really making a difference to how I feel, although I have to be honest I could easily buy a family bar of Dairy Milk and sit at home eating it all myself, but while I may have gotten off with this behaviour gain-free when termite was exclusively breastfed (and I did eat that much , DAILY!) I know I won't now and I'm trying to break these habits.

So I'm just going to spill my misery and grumpiness onto you lot and then go eat some sweet potato and kale curry!

I'm also going to post my favourite recipes so far including a cake!

A Salad Is Not Just For Summer

You all know we've been trying to make healthy changes in Monkeyfeet HQ and I'm embarking on my #mummymakeover to try to lose some weight and trim and tone. So I was really pleased to have the opportunity to work with Florette who have just launched a fab new website. They sent me out a lovely goody bag with a brill sports bottle to help me out when Im back to my running, some vouchers for thier lovely salad (of course) 'A Salad For All Seasons' recipe book by Harry Eastwood.

The book is full of scrummy ideas for salads all year round, and I was really inspired to make up my own Healthy Salad recipes, but ones that are suitable for winter time. So here's my current favourite lunchtime treat..

.Florette Leafy Rocket Salad

Winter Warmer Salad
1/2 bag of Rocket
1/2 courgette peeled into ribbons
6 Cubes Feta
1/2 chicken breast, cubed (leftovers from previous dinner_
6 pistachio nuts halved
1/2 small sweet potato cubed and baked (we used leftovers from the evening before)
Chilli and Garlic to taste

Heat a tiny drizzle of oil in a pan and throw in your courgette chilli and garlic and fry gently for a few minutes

Toss in the nuts sweet potato and chicken and allow to warm through.

Add the feta and stir heat for a further 2 minute then add the rocket, put a lid on the pan and toss all the ingredients to mix, serve immediately.

This is so moreish I promise you will love it

#Mummymakeover Week 4

19-26 October

I've gained a pound! I have to say this comes as no surprise given the awful week I've had.

I'm quite relieved it's only 1lb as I've ate total rubbish.

I wish I had words of positivity and plans to share with you all but I don't. I'm
struggling to balance everything and fit in exercise. But I've made a meal plan and we have the week off so I'm hoping to get plenty of outdoor time next week.

Well I genuinely have nothing more to say I'm feeling rather despondent!

#Mummymakeover Week 3

13-18 October

I can't even believe I'm writing this ... I've messed up 2 weeks of good work with a week of RUBBISH. I've ate pan au chocolat, jelly's, croissants, takeaway and even toast with chocolate spread!

Honestly I couldn't even tell you why! I hate the week leading up to that time of the month because my brain tells me I NEED to eat carbs and sugar and fat! I know that I don't and it does me no good, infact I feel sluggish and lardy and bloated so I just feel worse than ever!

I'm such a comfort eater I wish I wasn't but I really feel like I have no control sometimes! Next week NEEDS TO BE BETTER ! I must go running and I must cycle at least once

I have managed a lovely cycle along the coast though which cleared out the cobwebs! So let's hope for a better week next week and a positive weigh in ...

#Mummymakeover Week 2

8-12 October

I made it to running again today and pushed myself a bit further than I have so far. I'm quite proud that I didn't feel like I was dying afterwards!

I haven't managed more than a few walks though so I need to up my game on the cycling front. It's so easy to make excuses when I haven't got the right gear so I need to get water proofs, a lock , lights and a nice cover to keep my termite dry in her littke bike seat! But that's enough excuses I will be better.

My bid to go cold turkey in the sugar front has gone ok this week, I'm making much more effort and even when going for a cuppa with my bestie (which would always be accompanied by cake) I chose a savoury scone, not the most healthy I know but there was no chocolate involved so I'm counting it as a win. I do have a confession though... My afore mentioned bestie brought me some home made tiffen cake. With the words 'it's dark chocolate so much better for you' .....  Yes I did eat it but that is the only slip up I've had, ah who am I kidding I'm rubbish aren't I?

The best news is...,,, I've lost 4lb! I'm soooooo happy it's given me a real boost to keep at it.
