Hands up I will admit I sort of think I have this potty training down to a fine art, I mean both my kids took to it quite well, we haven't had any major trauma or lasting effects and we all survived!
So when Dry Like Me asked if I'd like to review their potty training book I didn't think I would gain much from it, I did think it would be nice to have a little refresher though and something for Termite and I to read together. (Poor girl gets nowt new being the third, she's queen of pre-loved)
Hands up again! I actually learned some tips i had never thought about before, for example in preparation for starting, change all nappies in the bathroom. That way there's an association between toileting and the TOILET! This has never occurred to me I change bums on my knee!
The book has 5 sections,
Preparing
Signs of readiness
Going for it
Keeping going
Night Time
There are also check lists, certificates and stickers to use as rewards

ReplyDeleteTo try and get them to sit on the potty or toilet for more than a few minutes read them some books or find an entertaining app on tablet as they get bored very quickly
ReplyDeleteI would guess being patient is important. I haven't started training my 2 year old, but it's going to happen soon. So I'll need to remember this myself!
ReplyDeletebe patient and dont stress

ReplyDeleteHave a lot of patience! Even when you think you're making good progress, three will be some setbacks but these will only be temporary so keep a cool head and keep on going!
ReplyDeleteBe patient, when elliot has asked for his nappy on I just pop it on, he soon wants it back off. I just let him be/feel in charge/control of it all xx
ReplyDeleteBe persistent, but patient.
ReplyDeleteDont take any notice of what other people tell you about when you should start potty training. Do it when you and your child are ready, take your time and stock up on disinfectant x
ReplyDeleteNever start too early!
