Jamies Comfort Food - Book Review

Well you'd have to have been living on Mars not to know who Jamie Oliver is, and Im sure you are aware of his brilliant work campaigning for our childrens school meals, his gorgeous restaurants and his other cook books, well now hes back with Jamies Comfort Food

What They Say
Jamie's Comfort Food is all about the food you really want to eat, made exactly how you like it. With this in mind, the book features ultimate versions of all-time favourites, and also introduces cherished dishes from countries around the world, providing a delicious recipe for every occasion. This isn't everyday cooking - this is about weekends, holidays, celebrations and occasions. Whether you're home alone, or sharing the love with a big group of family or friends, there really is something for everyone.

Celebrating the beauty of good food is at the heart of this book, and it's jam-packed with incredible photography. Written in Jamie's usual down-to-earth and easy-to-understand style, the methods are precise and have been tested to the hilt, so are guaranteed to work, but this time Jamie has turned the edit filter off, and shares extra hints, tips and ideas throughout to ensure you achieve the best possible results. This is about making food the very best it can be, and embracing the rituals of cooking.

Recipes include everything from mighty moussaka, delicate gyoza with crispy wings, steaming ramen and katsu curry to super eggs Benedict, scrumptious sticky toffee pudding and tutti frutti pear tarte tatin.

What We Say

OK I'm going to be honest, I do good comfort food! I'm not blowing my own trumpet but I'm a proper geordie lass and comfort food was abundant when I was growing up, so I was kind of expecting to feel like your Mr Oliver was going to be teaching his ganny how to suck eggs (I did say I was a Geordie right?)

Totally worng was I! Only Jamie could take Beans on Toast (yum) and make it tastier, how? Rub a little garlic on your toast! GENIUS. Other favourites are this Shepherds Pie Recipe , putting the mashed potatoes on the bottom sides and top really really changes this recipe to full on comfort. Lastly this tear and share Garlic bread is so simple but so delicious that I really hate the thought of ever using shop bought garlic bread again.

There are loads of other great ones to try and I think this will be a real go to for meal ideas here at Monkeyfeet HQ

If you have a foody in your family and you are looking for the perfect gift I promise they wont be dissapointed once theyve tried some of these recipes, you can buy the book here and you can follow Jamie on Facebook and Twitter
